"I'm really happy with they are kids are doing," Beaver Local head coach Joe Carr said. "They are working really hard. Of course, I have got two great assistant coaches in Amanda Davidson and Tony Metsch. Tony of course was trained by Scott Thornberry, and they both competed at the collegiate level. They really have helped us out out here a whole lot. One of the reasons we are at where we are at is because the kids listen to the three of us, mostly those two."

All told, the Beavers won 19 of the 32 events. Tricia Taggart, Kami Snow, Sarah Ridgely, Larry Merriman and Cody Green combined to win 11 of the 19 events.

On the girls side, Taggart led the way with three victories. She won the 800 (2:37.7), the 1600 (5:58.8) and the 3200 (13:24.8).

Snow, Ridgely, Merriman and Green all won two events. Snow won the 200 (29.6) and the 400 (1:05.9). Ridgely won the 100 hurdles (19.70 and the 300 hurdles (56.9).

On the boys side, Merriman won the 100 (11.8) and the 200 (24.2). Green won the shot put (38-05.25) and the discus (118-09).

Thursday's dual meet was the first time the Beavers and Potters crossed paths on the track. It will not be the last. The two teams will meet multiple times the rest of the season.

"Oh yeah, we see Liverpool a couple more times," Carr said. "I know the last meet of the year we have got Liverpool, Wellsville and Buckeye Local. We have got a quad May 11, so we see them just before we are going into districts, and I think we will seem them at districts because we both run at the same place. We get to see East Liverpool quite often."

The Beaver Local girls are scheduled to return to the track today for a girls invitational at East Palestine. Both Beaver teams will compete Thursday in a tri-meet at home against Columbiana County rivals Wellsville and Southern Local.
