Wildcats win catfight

RICHMOND - Caitlin Brenstuhl pitched a solid game and the bats produced just enough as the Edison softball team held on to defeat Buckeye Local, 3-2, Monday at Jefferson Lake State Park.

Brensthul struck out four, walked two and allowed two runs in her seven innings in the circle for the Wildcats (7-3).

Offensively, Kristin Prokopakis produced two singles and two runs, Kayla Prokopakis picked up two RBI and Trisha Trifonoff finished with a single and an RBI. Also, Brensthul tallied a base hit and a run.

Angela Primovic took the loss for the Panthers (8-5).

Offensively, Dana Bettineschi belted a solo home run in the sixth, and Kierstyn Czuchran recorded a solo home run in the seventh inning.

"Defensively, we played well today," Edison head coach Spencer Bendle said. "We didn't have a very-good showing at the plate though."

Edison plays today at 5 p.m. at home against Harrison Central.

Hubbard 5, Beaver Local 3

HUBBARD - The Hubbard softball team scored two runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to rally to earn a 5-3 victory Monday over visiting Beaver Local.

Courtney Messenger took the loss for the Beavers. She struck out six, walked two and allowed five runs on three hits.

Offensively, Deanna Dutch delivered a single, a double, an RBI and a run, Maranda Kiddey added a double and an RBI and Kim Rotellini tallied a double.

Beaver Local plays today at home against Hubbard.
