Bears beat Potters, 15-1, in 5

EAST LIVERPOOL -The Oak Glen baseball team pounded out 16 hits en route to a 15-1 win in five innings Wednesday at East Liverpool.

Steve Barr was the winning pitcher for the Golden Bears (7-6). Barr struck out nine, walked three and allowed one run on four hits in four innings of work. Bub Haddox pitched one inning. He struck out two.

"It was a real good day," Oak Glen head coach Lou Nagy said. "Our bats are coming alive. That is the big thing. It is always fun to play those kids because ervybody knows everybody."

Offensively, Jeff Hissam contributed a single, a double, a home run and two RBI, Haddox delivered three singles and four RBI and Barr recorded a double and two RBI. Also, Trey Smith tallied a single and a double, Tyler Steed collected two singles and a double and Brandon Englehart tripled.

Brian Beverly took the loss for the Potters. He struck out three and allowed 12 runs on 12 hits in four innings of work. Jay Lane pitched one inning. He struck out one while allowing thee runs on one hit.

Offensively, catcher Justin Behanna contributed a single and an RBI, Jon Weyand and Mikey Williams each delivered a double and Bevery belted a single.

Wellsville 14, Southern Local 10

SALINEVILLE - The Tigers turned the tables on the Indians.

The Wellsville baseball team pouned out eight hits en route to a 14-0 victory in five innings Wednesday at Southern Local.

Jaren McIntosh picked up the win for the Tigers (1-9). McIntosh struck out 11, walked two and did not allow a run on one hit in his five innings of work.

Offensively for Wellsville, Devon Smith tallied a single, double and four RBI, Jake Reed delivered a single double and three RBI and McIntosh helped his own cause with two singles and an RBI. Also, Mike Call collected a single and two RBI, Matt Broughton added a single.

Damin Beadnell took the loss for the Indians (2-3). Beadnell struck out six, walked three and allowed nine runs on five hits in 2.2 innings. Caleb Gotchall pitched the rest of teh way. Gotchall struckout four, walked three and allowed five runs on three hits.

Eric Woodburn singled for Southern's lone hit of the game.
