The engagement of Nancy M. Herron of Boardman and James R. Hanek III of Austintown is being announced by their parents, Glen and Judith Herron of Salem and James and Linda Hanek Jr. of Austintown.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Salem will be the setting for the couple's exchange of vows during an open ceremony at 2 p.m. Aug. 4. Invitations will be issued for an evening reception in their honor at Das Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana.
Miss Herron graduated with a bachelor's degree in science from Bowling Green State University and master's degree in occupational therapy from Chatham College. She is an occupational therapist at Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman.

Mr. Hanek is a high school biology teacher at South Range High School. He is also the head golf coach and baseball coach at the high school. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown State University and a master's degree in education from Walden University.
