SALEM - For four years, Bart Wyss led the Salem Quakers golf team. Now he'll look to do the same for Division II Lake Erie College.
Wyss, a four-year letter winner, qualified for Division II district play four times as a Quaker. He also was a four-time First Team All-Conference selection in addition to being a three-time Most Valuable Player for his team.
He was a three-time captain and holds three school records including lowest nine-hole round (32).
"Today was great," Wyss said. "It has been my dream to play college golf ever since I was a little kid and it feels great to finally sign and start to prepare for the challenges ahead."
Lake Erie College competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the men's golf team fields 12 players. Given his ability and average scoring, Wyss should see significant action right off the bat. The Storm has finished in the bottom two of their last four tournaments, so the addition of Wyss will certainly be a welcome one.
The Storm are coached by Milt Johnson, a 1978 Mount Union graduate.
In addition to his on-course achievements, Wyss also was the recipient of the All-Academic Award last fall.
He is the son of Bart and Margie Wyss.
