ALLIANCE-Mary Jane Johnson, 90, of Alliance, died on Monday, May 7, 2012, at 9:10 p.m. at Bel Air Care Center in Alliance.
Born on Oct. 23, 1921, in Leetonia, she lived in Alliance most of her life and was a 1938 graduate of Leetonia High School. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
She was previously employed at Taylorcraft Aviation where she also served as secretary-treasurer of the Taylorcraft Aviation Club. She also worked at Alliance Manufacturing until her retirement.
In her past-time, she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her girlfriends, riding motorcycles with her husband and watching Nascar racing. She was a season ticket holder for Alliance High School Football for over 30 years and was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye fan.
Survivors include her children, Richard L. (Sally) Johnson of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Donald R. (Carol) Johnson of North Canton, Karen S. Johnson of Alliance, Sharon (Fred) Ries of Bellefonte, Pa., Keith A. (Susan) Johnson of Salem; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Terone Rajcan of Newton Falls, Rita Penny of Alliance, Lenora Jean Frederick of Salem; a half brother, Alan "Sonny" Beiling of Mesa, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Benjamin Milas "Nub" Johnson on Oct. 16, 2002 , whom she married on Nov. 12, 1942; her parents, Frank and Ellen Marie "Nellie" (Helt) Oliver; stepmother, Vera Oliver; sisters, Mary Katherine Oliver, Helen Oliver, and Teresa Oliver; and brothers, James, Robert, Bud, Bill, George, John, Francis and Lawrence Oliver.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Her funeral service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
