VIENNA-The Mahoning and Shenango Valleys Chapter of Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) held its first organizational meeting on Oct. 28, 2011, and received its charter from Retired Vice Admiral Norbert R. Ryan, president and CEO of MOAA, on Feb. 23, 2012. LCDR Solmen is only one of 50 charter members from the local region in Ohio and Pennsylvania eligible to sign the Charter Document. LCDR Solmen and his wife Connie, live in Salem.
This chapter becomes MOAA's 412th Chapter joining over 377,000 members world-wide. The MSVC-MOAA Chapter is accepting new members throughout Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in Ohio and Crawford, Mercer, Lawrence, and Beaver counties in Pennsylvania. MOAA is a nonprofit veterans association dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense and to preserving the earned entitlements of the uniformed services and their families and survivors. Membership chairman is Lieutenant Colonel Don Rasile at 330-758-3348. Monthly meetings are held on fourth Thursday of at the Consolidated Activity Center of the YAFRS in Vienna.
