COLUMBUS -The ultimate goal is within reach.
Six members of the Edison boys and girls track teams qualified for the 2012 Ohio State Track and Field Meet which will be held Friday and Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.
Representing the Wildcats will be seniors Kyle Minger and Nhung Tran, sophomores Ashley Borsch, Katelyn Pollock and Kylie Long and freshman Bethanie Bube.
Minger, the lone senior boy on the Edison roster, qualified for the state meet in the 400.
Borsch, is Edison's lone two-event qualifier. Individually, Borsch qualified in the 300 hurdles, and she is also a member of the Wildcats qualifying 4x100 relay team. Bube, Long and Tran are also on the team.
Pollock qualified in the high jump.
There will be plenty of great competition at the state meet once again this year. To prepare to compete at the state capital at the end of the season, the Wildcats scheduled and faced tough competition throughout the season.
The Wildcats made three trips north into Columbiana County to take part in three meets. edison took part in the Early Bird Relays at East Liverpool. Later in the year, Edison traveled back to East Liverpool to take part in a tri-meet along with Crestview. Finally, Edison traveled to Beaver Local to take part in a quad along with Wellsville and Oak Glen.
