CLEVELAND - Wendy Washington Shelton, 56, formerly of Salem, died May 31 at her home in Cleveland following an illness.
She was born July 10, 1955 in Salem to William and Lillian Washington. She graduated from Salem High School before attending Youngstown State University. She worked as a Highway Patrol dispatcher before resuming her education and earning a bachelor's of art degree in interior design from Kent State University.
She worked for 15 years in several architectural firms, designing interiors for institutions including Cleveland State University, the University of Akron and Lake West Hospital. She then served as Adult Services Specialist at the Shaker Heights Library.
She was a production team member at New Community Bible Fellowship in Cleveland Heights, where she utilized her skills in audio engineering.
Wendy married Obie Shelton on Nov. 26, 1983. Mr. Shelton survives along with a son, Owen Shelton; and three brothers, William Washington of Richmond, Calif., Warren Washington of Boulder, Colo. and Wayne Washington of Salem.
A service was held June 8 at New Community Bible Fellowship in Cleveland Heights. Arrangements were handled by Cummings &?Davis Funeral Home in East Cleveland, Ohio.
