LEETONIA - Gerald M. Ferry, 80, of Crestview Road, died at 6:47 a.m. Friday at Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Ferry was born Nov. 23, 1931 in Leetonia, a son of Anthony and Catherine Grunick Ferry and had lived in this area all of his life.
Jerry was a Central Office Repairman for Ohio Bell for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion in Leetonia and a life member of the Washingtonville York Drexler Post #5532 VFW. He was also a member of The Pioneers. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, the former JoAnn Bingham, whom he married June 1, 1957; a son, Steven (Melissa) Ferry of Akron; a brother, Anthony (Donna) Ferry of Youngstown; and a grandson, Austin M. Ferry of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shelly Ann Ferry; a son, Michael Ferry; a sister, Margaret Ann Clunen; and four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Carmen and Robert Ferry.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Mount Calvary Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. The Salem Honor Guard will accord military honors and burial will follow in the cemetery. Arrangements are being made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
