LISBON - David John Bernet, 54, U.S. Route 30, Hanoverton, was charged with abduction after he reportedly forcibly brought a man involved in drilling testing to the sheriff's department in his pickup at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Bernet told deputies the other man, who had on work attire including a safety vest labeled TGC, came onto his property without giving him 24 hours notice. Bernet said the company, based in Alliance, is required to give him notice, so he told the man, Miguel Angel Tovar, to get into his truck so they could figure it out at the sheriff's department.

When he arrived, Bernet reportedly told deputies, "I caught him trespassing, you deal with it."

Tovar told deputies Bernet actually approached him while holding a handgun and ordered him to the ground with his hands up while pointing the gun at him. He took Tovar's possessions and then ordered him into the vehicle putting the handgun in the back of the truck.

Bernet admitted to having an unloaded shotgun in his pickup, but no handguns. Deputies searched the pickup and found the shotgun and two handguns, including one which was loaded. The loaded gun was identified by Tovar as the handgun Bernet pointed at him.
