CANTON -Betty C. Schneider, 84, passed away Sunday night, June 24, 2012, following an extended illness.
She was born in Minerva, Ohio, on March 8, 1928, to the late Carl Ramsey and Pauline (Foss) Moore.
Mrs. Schneider had been a Canton resident since 1969, and a resident of Bethany Nursing Home since 2007. Betty received a bachelor's of arts degree from Mount Union College in education and taught in the Canton City Schools Adult Basic Education program.
She was preceded by her husband, Gerald L. Schneider, whom she married on June 24, 1950.
She was also preceded by her brother, William Ramsey.
She is survived by her eight loving children, Gerry Schneider Jr., Terri (Peter) Bate, Tim (Pat) Schneider, Jeff Schneider, Rita Schneider, Ed (Cindy) Schneider, John Schneider, and Tom Schneider. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren: Eric (Angela) Schneider, Matt (Shawna) Schneider, Marissa (Ben) Clutter, Chris Bate and Pedar Ben Bate, Nick Schneider, Stacey (Dan) Janosik, Craig (Shantelle) Hoopes, Tony Schneider and Trina Schneider.
In addition, she also leaves behind her brother, Robert (Sarah Ann) Ramsey; sister-in-law, Linda Ramsey; and close friends of the family, Maria Schneider and Sandy Beichler; her best friend, Letty B. Plikerd; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service has already been held.
