East Palestine breakfast to be held Wednesday

EAST PALESTINE -The annual East Palestine community breakfast will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. July 4 at the Community Center in the park.

SHS Class of 1963 to hold birthday bash

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1963 will hold its birthday bash at 1:30 p.m. July 7 at BB Rooners. The after party follows at the home of Elaine Reiter. For more information call 330-332-4001.

TOPS?1380 rewards weekly weight loss

SALEM - TOPS 1380 met June 18 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with 12 members weighing in. Nancy Finch led the prayer and pledge, while Dorothy Mussler, Margaret Phillips and Cora Jean Briggs recited the KOPS pledge. Best losers were Barb May, honorable mention; and Phillips, KOPS. Barb May also won the Rolling Cash Five. Members finished the flower contest. Eleanor May read for the circle of light.

At the June 25 meeting, 13 members weighed in. Dorothy Mussler led prayer and the pledge. She also recited the KOPS pledge with Cora Jean Briggs and Margaret Phillips. Best losers were Debra May, TOPS; Barb Baughman and Shirley Bullis, honorable mention; and Briggs, KOPS. Royalty winners were Bullis, TOPS; and Briggs, KOPS.

The flower contest ended and winners were Phillips, Briggs, Bullis, Eleanor May, Nancy Finch, Jeannie Luxeuil, Barb May and Shirley Hartman. Each received a potted flower. Mussler read for the circle of light.

United Quilt Guild to meet Tuesday

SALEM - The United Quilt Guild will meet on July 3 at the First Presbyterian Church. The UnFinished Objects door open at 9:30 a.m. followed by the business session at 6:30 p.m. Plans for the 1213 Quilt Show will be discussed.

Omega Council holds installation of officers

SALEM -Omega Council of York Rite Masonry held its annual installation of officers on June 14 at the Salem Masonic building. The following were installing officers: Rich Amlung installing; Bill Stanley, marshall; Jim Forney, recorder; Brad Lankford, chaplain. The following officers were installed: Glen Adams, illustrious master; Clyde Stratman, deputy master; Steve Ronshausen, principal conductor of the work; Jim Forney, recorder; Gary Ronshausen Jr., treasurer; Don Jugenheimer, captain of the guard; Gary Ronshausen Sr., conductor of council; Lou Hartsough, steward; William Stanley, guard. A donation was made to diabetic camps for kids. A luncheon followed the installation.

Salem Commandery installs new officers

SALEM - Salem Commandery of York Rite Masonry held its annual installation of officers on June 12 at the Salem Masonic building. A dinner preceded. The following were installing officers: Jim Parker installing; Perry Coxson, marshall; Gary Ronshausen Jr., and Steve Ronshausen, prelate. The following officers were installed: Don Jugenheimer, commander; Brad Lankford, generalisimo; Eric Forney, captain general; Steve Ronshausen, prelate; William Stanley, treasurer; Gary Ronshausen Jr., recorder; Clyde Stratman, senior warden; Lou Hartsough, junior warden; Ernie Greenisen, standard bearer; Gary Ronshausen Sr., sword bearer; Jim Forney, warder; and Mike Stumperth sentinel. A donation was made to the Holy Land Pilgrimage fund. A fellowship hour followed.

USA?Dance ballroom boogie scheduled for Monday

GIRARD - A free "Mad Hot Monday Ballroom Boogie" is slated on July 2, sponsored by USA Dance, Youngstown-Warren Chapter, and Kuzmans Lounge. The dance features Ballroom, Latin, and Swing and Hustle from 6 to 9 p.m. at Kuzmans,1025 S. State St., Girard. The public is invited. R-Weigh recognizes weight loss winners

SALEM - The R-Weigh weight groups met Monday at Faith Chapel. A loss of 32 pounds was recorded. Good losers for the week were Francie Tuel, Rene Haver, Susan Cain, Ruth Ann Hall and Patty Hartman. Judy Catlett, Jo Carol Gray and Virginia Ciotti were the goalies for the week. Janel Anderson earned the birthday award and Sue Carver won the can-do drawing.

April through June birthday members, Judy Baker, Roni Fauver, Sylvia Eller, Kay Swanson and Rachel Weaver, served a low-fat, low-calorie luncheon at the day meeting. The Quaker City Hitters baseball team tied the Hit and Run team 7 to 7. Quaker City Hitters broke the tie winning the game.

Karen Pauline presided at the evening meeting and Carol Held led the exercises. The Home Run Honeys beat the Baseball Babes 32 to 13 at the evening meeting. New members are welcome at the 1 and 5 p.m. groups. For information call 330-332-1078.
