WASHINGTONVILLE - A Columbiana man is eyeing about a half-acre of property on Boston Street down from Cherry Street to install self-storage units.
Bryce Gillam described his plans to village council Monday, saying it was very preliminary and he didn't have the number of units that would be built.
"There're no structures on it now," he said adding his intention was survey, clear, grade, install culverts and prepare the property if he can proceed.
He said he was checking with council to see if there were requirements he needed to know about.
Mayor Will Jones said, "I'm almost positive that's not a wetlands, but you might want to check.
Gillam said the buildings will be modeled after self-storage units on state Route 7 south of state Route 14.
"It's a good contribution to the area," he said and Solicitor Michele McBride Simonelli pointed out the village does not have zoning but said he should check on the possible wetlands issue through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
