LISBON - A Pennsylvania driver was flown to St. Elizabeth's Hospital Monday evening after he pulled into the path of a semi truck on state Route 558 just outside of East Palestine.

According to the Highway Patrol, John Fesh of Scottdale, Pa., pulled from Neeld Road in front of the westbound Smith Dairy truck driven by Benny Barner of Wooster. Fesh was driving a Chevy pickup truck and pulling a trailer stacked with insulation boards. The pickup was struck broadside and ended up in the yard across from Neeld Road underneath part of the semi truck trailer, which jacknifed into the yard. The trailer Fesh was pulling became disconnected and came to rest on the other side of the semi truck.

East Palestine firefighters indicated the pickup caught fire, but the homeowner had a hose and the fire was extinguished quickly. Fesh was pulled from the wrecked pickup and flown to the hospital. Troopers said his condition was unknown.
