Aaron Buxton reunion slated for Aug. 5
SALEM - The 88th Aaron Buxton reunion will be held Aug. 5 at Centennial Park, pavilion one. Lunch begins at noon. Those attending are to bring a coverdish, family history information, old photos and a gift for the raffle. There will be a 50/50 drawing. Homemade ice cream will served after meeting.
Green Twp. Firemen's Festival scheduled
GREENFORD - The 67th annual Green Township Volunteer Firemen's Festival kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 4 on the lawn at the Greenford Bobcat Space Center on Route 165 (formerly Greenford School) There will be spot drawings every half hour. The four grand prizes include $500, a flat screen TV, a gas grill, and digital camera.

DAHS Class of 1963 to hold annual picnic
LISBON -The annual picnic for the David Anderson High School Class of 1963 begins at 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Gloria Mathews farm at 35816 state Route 172. The classes of 1961 through 1967, and all other DAHS graduates, have also been invited to the event. The contact person for each class is posted on the Lisbon Alumni Association web site. Hamburgers and hot dogs are provided for this coverdish picnic, along with condiments and ice chests to hold beverages. Reservations are requested by Sept. 6. Greenford School banquet to be held
GREENFORD - The 108th Greenford School Alumni Banquet will be held on Aug. 18 at Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield. The social hour begins at 5 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. Cost is $22 per person. Members of the honored class of 1962 will receive their dinner for free. Stockwell-Lease family meets for reunion
SALEM - Forty-eight family members and friends attended the Stockwell-Lease reunion on July 15 at Centennial Park. Michele Daugherty offered the blessing prior to the basket dinner. President Arnold Lease welcomed everyone and conducted a brief business meeting. The secretary and treasurer's reports were read and approved. Winners of the card game were Tammy Guy, Colleen Cope, Annie Holzschuch, Betsy Schuster and Butch Lease. Two deaths were reported: Zane Farmer Jr. and Pat Lease; one marriage: Richard and Michele Lease; and a birth: Piper Guy. The next reunion is slated July 21, 2013.
KofC Council 10183 to host men's night

ALLIANCE - Gwen Ketchum will speak when Aglow International Salem Lighthouse meets at 10 a.m. Aug. 7 at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, 374 Homeworth Road. The $8 donation includes lunch.
Ketchum co-pastors at the recently launched church, The Revelry. She and her husband have been married for 31 years. They have two grown sons.
Yard sale to benefit CC Humane Society
SALEM - The Gina McQuillan State Farm Agency is sponsoring a yard sale fund raiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at 1285 E. Pidgeon Road.
All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Columbiana County. The HSCC will have pets available for adoption on site.

SALEM -The Goshen High School Class of 1958 and guests will meet for lunch at noon Aug. 13 at the Skyline Diner at the Salem Airport north of Salem on state Route 45.
R-Weigh recognizes weekly weight loss
SALEM - The R-Weigh weight groups met at 1 and 5 p.m. Monday at Faith Chapel. A loss of 23 pounds was recorded for the week. The good loser at the afternoon group was JoAnne Bogdan. The goalie was Sandy McGarr. Rachel Weaver won the can-do monetary drawing. Karen Morris presented a program on "What Does the Lingo on the Food Labels Really Mean? The Quaker City Hitters beat the Hit and Runs 8 to 6 winning their fourth baseball game. Hit and Runs have won three games with two games remaining to be played.
Good losers at the evening meeting were Donna Greenamyer, Susan Cain and Ruth Ann Hall. Diane Hart won the can-do monetary drawing. "Happy Birthday" was sung to Greenamyer. Karen Pauline presided at the evening meeting and presented a program on Body Mass Index, Tips on Eating a Balanced Diet and Portion Control. The Home Run Honeys beat the Baseball Babes 24 to 16 winning their fourth baseball game. The Baseball Babes have won three games with two games to be played. Next Monday is July payday at both groups when members will be paid $1 per pound for their July losses.
Historical society to hold open house
HOMEWORTH - The Western Columbiana County Historical Society will observe its annual open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 12. The museum is located in Homeworth across from the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church. This year in addition to the museum displays, there will be a quilt show on Aug. 5 and 12. A garden tour of local gardens is also available. Cost for the garden tour is $10. Maps and tickets may be purchased at noon at the museum on Aug. 12. A free drawing for a gift basket by Susie Kaiser will be held. The winner need not be present to win. All money will be used for repairs and maintenance for the museum which is a 501(c)3 organization.
Weingart Cousins meet for breakfast
SALEM - The Weingart Cousins Breakfast Group met recently with 15 in attendance. The next breakfast is scheduled Aug. 14 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.
Highland School reunion held
SALEM -The Highland School reunion was held June 30 at the covered bridge at Teagarden. Recognition was given to Marge Dumovic and Raymond Beck, the oldest and youngest students present, respectively. A basket dinner was served at noon with a blessing given by Billy Snyder. Recognition was also given to veterans. Present were Mrs. Dumovic, Ralph Dumovic, Ernest Zimmerman, Arnold Lease and Bill Daugherty. Special guests included Pastor John Reed and Debbie and Clara. He is the former minister at Highland Church.
