School clothes giveaway

COLUMBIANA - The "back to school" clothing giveaway, for families in need, will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 8 at the First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St.

Senior Citizens Day

SALEM - National Senior Citizens Day will be celebrated on Aug. 21 at the Realife Church, 12824 Salem-Warren Road. A free luncheon for all senior citizens will be served at noon. Reservations may be made by calling 330-332-0011. There also will be a drawing for gift baskets.

Community day camp

NORTH LIMA - Good Hope Lutheran Church at 12030 Market St. is hosting its annual community day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 6-10. Camp is free and open to youth who have completed kindergarten through seventh grade. Lunch and snacks are provided. Registration forms are available online at www.goodhope-elca.org. Gospel Music Revival

ROGERS - The fourth annual Northeastern Ohio Gospel Music Revival on Aug. 11 will be held at the Rogers Assembly of God, 8251 Sprucevale Road. Doors open at 4 p.m. Lynn Deeter will start the prelude on piano at 4:30 p.m. The youth group will sell food in the fellowship hall. Sons of Liberty, Nicholas Naylor, Redemption and Glorybound are scheduled to perform. Admission is free. Sons of Liberty will also perform at the 10:30 a.m. service on Aug. 12 at the church.

Vacation Bible school set

EAST FAIRFIELD - Vacation Bible school is slated from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 11 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 state Route 558. The carnival theme featuring games, clowns, popcorn, cotton candy, Bible lessons, and fun will entertain and educate children from kindergarten through seventh grade.

Families are invited to the ice cream festival to follow in the pavilion from 4:30 to 7 p.m. In case of rain, the festival will be held in the fellowship hall. The menu includes hot turkey sandwiches, hot dogs, sloppy joes, sides, pie and cake and homemade ice cream, introducing homemade flavored ice cream made with Baker's Golden Dairy flavored milk. Musical entertainment is provided by Silver and Gold featuring Nancy Setinsek and Ruthie Rowley.

Spiritual renewal in EP

EAST PALESTINE - East Palestine Nazarene Church will present four days of spiritual renewal with guest speaker, Pastor Brian Brown of the Lisbon Nazarene Church. His message is "A Closer Walk with God." Music will be provided by Jim and Mary Cochran, Brian and Patty Brown and Doug and Pam Price. The revival dates and times are 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 12; and 6 p.m. Aug. 13, 14 and 15. Babysitters are provided.

EL Community Day

EAST LIVERPOOL - Destiny House Church will hold its fourth annual Community Day from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 at 49345 Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road. Backpacks filled with school supplies will be provided to the first 500 area children, in kindergarten through fourth grade. Children must be present to receive a backpack. Signature Styles Salon will provide back-to-school haircuts. There also will be free eye exams. scoliosis screenings, a fresh produce distribution, inflatable jumps for the children, music, hot dogs and beverages.

Drive-thru chicken dinners

NORTH LIMA - The Calvary United Methodist Church at 12062 South Ave. will serve its drive-thru chicken dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 9, or until sold out. The meal consists of baked chicken breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $6. Call 330-549-2588 to pre-order dinners and include your phone number with your order. A portion of proceeds is used for mission projects each month.

The church is hosting a community yard sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 15. The rain date is Sept. 22. Vendors are needed. To reserve a space call 330-482-4824 and leave your name and phone number; your call will be returned. A single space 12x12 is $15 and a 12x24 is $20.

Winona preschool

WINONA - The Winona United Methodist Preschool has set orientation dates and times for the coming school year, which begins Sept. 4. Children in the 3-year- old class and their parents will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Winona United Methodist Church. Students in the 4 and 5-year-old classes, along with their parents, will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 24.

While students meet their teachers and classmates, parents will have an informational session with the director and pastor. Parents are reminded to bring all required documents. To register your child call the church office at 330-222-1211 or Joan Gibson at 330-222-2215.

Big Back Yard program

SALEM - The First Presbyterian Church's Big Back Yard program will present "Art in the Park" from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at 436 E. Second St. Attendees will share and display a favorite piece of artwork or craft they made. People's Choice awards will be made to the top three adult and top three youth entrants. The sidewalk chalk drawing contest will be available with awards to the top three chalk artists. Other fun and games are available including origami. Walking tacos, desserts and refreshments are available. Admission is free and open to the public.

Strength Team to perform

EAST LIVERPOOL -The East Liverpool Area YMCA, in partnership with the Tri State Ministerial Association, will present the Mike Hagen Strength Team to the YMCA downtown location at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 9.

The team is comprised of professional athletes who travel all over the world performing amazing feats of strength while sharing the powerful message of Jesus.

Food and beverages will be provided by the Tri State Ministerial Association from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., free of charge. Donations will be accepted. Guests will have the opportunity to take their own pictures and obtain autographs after the show. There is a $2 suggested door donation and a freewill offering during the show.
