'Back Yard Carnival' planned Wednesday
SALEM - The First Presbyterian Church's Big Back Yard program continues from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday featuring a "Back Yard Carnival" at 436 E. Second St.
The event is free and open to everyone and will be held, rain or shine.
Activities include face painting, various games for children, and the Price is Right game for adults. Refreshments will be served including snow cones, nachos and pizza.
Pre-ordered Crestview T-shirts available
COLUMBIANA - The preordered T-shirts for Crestview's first football game, Backyard Brawl Shirts, "Rebels vs. Clippers," are in.
Pick-up is available from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the middle school pavilion, or at "Meet the Team at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Crestview High School.
There also will be a limited number of shirts for sale, in various sizes, at "Meet the Team" at 6 p.m. Saturday at the high school.
Special Olympics Golf Scramble is Saturday
CALCUTTA - The 18th annual Columbiana County Special Olympics Golf Scramble still has tee times available.
The fee of $260 includes 18 holes with cart, breakfast, lunch at the turn, beverages and dinner.
The hole in one is sponsored by Stadium GM, longest putt sponsored by Beaver Creek Meadows Golf Club, plus other specialty shots. The scramble will take place on Saturday at Beaver Creek Meadows. Tee times start at 8 a.m. To reserve a tee time call 330-337-7962.
Toys for Tots car s how scheduled Saturday
EAST PALESTINE - The 14th annual Toys For Tots car show is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday on Market Street in East Palestine.
Pittsburgh Steelers players will be on hand signing autographs, along with Towmater and Lightning McQueen, Clydesdale horses and many more surprises. Artist of the NFL Larry Klu will paint along with a local artist in an art exhibition.
There will be awards for best car, Chinese auction items such as a Florida trip to Disney, a Dale Earnhart Sr. tire, autographed jerseys, NFL, NHL, NBA and Nascar items.
Also on Saturday, Big Dogs Sports Bar and Grill will host its second annual bike run. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the first bike out at 10 a.m.

ROCC Fest's fundraiser is Saturday
LISBON - The public is invited to the ROCC Fest's fundraiser on Saturday at the Guilford Lake Grille, 7094 Eastlake Road. Music will be provided by Zach Paxson from 8 to 9 p.m., Rock & Blues from 9 to 10 p.m., The Knowledge Dropout from 10 to 11 p.m. and The Breezeway from 11 p.m. to midnight.
Admission is $10 at the door. There will be a 50/50 and raffle baskets.
Proceeds will be directed to the Columbiana County Humane Society's Reduce Overpopulation of Cats and Canines program.
Chicken BBQ set at First Friends Church
SALEM - Tickets are still available for the 10th annual Friends Disaster Service Chicken BBQ on Saturday at the First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue featuring live entertainment and a silent auction.
Dinner will be served from 4 to 8 p.m. Cost for the chicken dinner is $10. A children's hot dog meal is available for $4. Advance tickets are recommended and may be purchased at the church office. For more information call 330-332-0001. The event will be held indoors, rain or shine.

LISBON - The Centaur Club's Warbird Fun Fly is slated Aug. 25 on County Home Road, across from the county jail. The pilot's meeting begins at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be available.

Breakfast will be served at Masonic Building
SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2.
The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.
The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.
SCT holding auditions Aug. 26-27
SALEM - Salem Community Theatre will hold auditions for its upcoming production of "A Little Murder Never Hurt Anyone" at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and 27. For this comedy/farce/murder/mystery, director Richard Fawcett is looking for approximately seven to 10 adults of various ages for roles that sometimes involve playing multiple characters. Come prepared to read from the script and interact with other actors.

Performing Arts program registration set
SALEM - Salem Community Theatre's Performing Arts Program is conducting student registration for fall dance classes, as well as voice and piano lessons from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 19.
A variety of dance styles, creative movement and tumbling for ages 3 through adult are being offered for sessions that will commence the week of Sept. 4.
Piano and voice lessons are also available, for beginners to advanced levels. The instructors and teachers will be on hand to answer any questions and personally greet students and parents.

Breakfast offered at Damascus church
DAMASCUS - An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at the Damascus United Methodist Church. Proceeds will go to the youth director's fund. The next breakfast is Sept. 15.
The church will host its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 25. Shoppers may fill a brown paper bag for $4 all day on Friday and until noon on Saturday. From noon until closing, the cost is $1 to fill the bag. Larger items will be priced separately. Proceeds of the sale will support the local missions of the Damascus United Methodist Women. A bake sale and lunch bar will be available.
Any donations for the rummage sale in good, workable, and useable condition are now being accepted at the church, 300 Valley Road.
