New director appointed to County Office on Aging

LISBON - The second in command at the Columbiana County Office on Aging has been appointed interim director by county commissioners.

Fran Kenst-Hawkins, who has been doing those duties since the retirement of director Iris Marshalek effective May 31, was officially named to the position by commissioners.

Kenst-Hawkins, who is also administrative assistant, will be paid $17.93 per hour, which is what Marshalek was earning when she retired.

In other business, commissioners acted on the recommendation of the county Emergency Management Agency and donated a Jeep Cherokee to the county's fire investigation team.

"It's in pretty bad shape," Commissioner John Payne said of the vehicle, which belongs to the EMA. This will leave the EMA with two other SUVs.

The SUV will be housed at the Glenmoor fire station, which will carry the title and insurance for the vehicle. It is to be used to carry equipment for fire investigations.

At the previous week's meeting, commissioners officially hired Jordan Reynolds and Brandon Ericsson as part-time courthouse security officers.

They also reappointed John Sayle and Frank Ungaro to another term on the county airport authority board, and appointed Jim Pusateri to replace the late Jay Carter on the board.
