MESA, Ariz. -Elaine Margaret Alexander, 84, of Mesa, Ariz., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 19, 2012 after a short illness.
She was born Aug.7, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio to Carl and Edna Abe. She graduated in 1950 from the Salem School of Nursing.
She worked as a nurse for 30 years and loved her job dearly. After their children were born and grown they moved to Mesa, Ariz., in 1979.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Chuck, and their four children and their spouses: Rick and Linda of Chandler, Ariz., Dave and Cathy, from Glendale, Ariz., Jim and Debi from Mesa, Ariz., and Karen and Reb, from San Antonio, Fla., as well as her only brother and his wife. Don and Joyce Abe of Diamond, Ohio.
She was a wonderful grandmother to seven, Brad, Jeff, Matthew, Alyssa, Katie, Rachel and Taylor and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Audrey. Also left behind were her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Salem City Hospital Alumnae Association and the Salem Chapter of Eastern Stars
She was a member of Desert Cross Lutheran Church
She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
A celebration of Elaine's life will be held at Desert Cross Lutheran Church on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. at 8600 S. McClintock, Tempe, AZ 85284.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the mission and outreach that Elaine was connected with at Desert Cross Church.
