Community Center joins Labels program

SALEM- As a non-profit, the Salem Community Center has been accepted into the Labels for Education program. The program focuses on promoting academics, athletics and the arts. Through the program the Salem Community Center can collect labels from over 2,500 products that will be redeemed for free merchandise for the Children's Fitness Center, Center Circle activities and other areas throughout the facility. A list of product labels is available at the Salem Community Center and label collection boxes are located throughout the building. Along with collecting labels, one can also register a Giant Eagle card at elabelsforeducation.com to earn the SCC extra label points on some purchases. For help registering a Giant Eagle card stop by the SCC or call 330-332-5885.

Guilford Lake Civic Association to meet

GUILFORD LAKE- The Guilford Lake Civic Association will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Guilford Lake Ruritan Hall on state Route 172. Guest speakers will be Matt Backhaus, Fish Management unit leader, Division of Wildlife, who will give counts and types of fish found in the recent shocking of area lakes. Matthew Smith, Northeast Region Scenic River manager of ODNR Division of Watercraft, will present a slide show of scenic rivers in Northeast Ohio. The public is invited to all meetings. Anyone interested in the possibility of Columbia Gas expanding services to Guilford Lake area is encouraged to attend.

Spaghetti dinner at Negley Masons

NEGLEY- The Negley Masonic Lodge will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Lodge. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Take-out orders will be available. The lodge is located at 50873 Richardson Ave. (state Route 154).

Butler Grange sponsors Banquet in Salem

SALEM- The Butler Grange will sponsor the next Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas or corn, applesauce, fresh vegetables, fruit and ice cream sundaes. Any person or organization interested in sponsoring a Banquet may call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.

Concealed carry class in Washingtonville

WASHINGTONVILLE- The Beaver Creek Sportsman Club will host a conceal carry weapons (CCW) class at 8 a.m. Sept. 15. To register or for information contact Tab Bailey at 330-502-3252.

Beaver Township Memory Book for sale

NORTH LIMA -The Beaver Township Bicentennial Memory Book will officially go on sale Wednesday. The memory book, which covers the township's history from the 2011 anniversary events back through several decades, includes 72 pages of photographs and information the township and its schools, churches and organizations.

The book may be purchased from 3:30 to 5:30 Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the Beaver Township Administration Office, 11999 South Ave., North Lima, beginning Wednesday through September. The cost is $10.
