SCH Auxiliary meeting slated
SALEM - The Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 13 in the small dining room at the back of the hospital cafeteria. Steve Ruwoldt, SCH president/CEO, is scheduled to speak. The public is invited.
United Quilt Guild to meet
SALEM- The United Quilt Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. for UFO projects and tote bag demo and at 6:30 p.m. for its business meeting on Sept. 4 at the Salem Presbyterian Church. The business meeting will include a program and selection of the UFO project winner.
DARE announces September activities
BOARDMAN - Next month's list of activities has been announced for Divorce/Death Arent's Really the End. The group meets at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road.

R-Weigh recognizes weight loss winners
SALEM -The R-Weigh weight groups met Aug. 13 at Faith Chapel. A loss of 28 pounds was recorded for the week. Good losers were Sylvia Eller and Ruth Ann Hall. Rachel Weaver was the goalie for the week and Judy Catlett won the monetary can-do award. Gloria Judy presented a program on the calorie sugar content of eating fruits and eating more vegetables. Karen Morris spoke on the benefits of eating Greek yogurt versus regular yogurt. The Baseball Babes hosted a recent picnic at the church with Ruth Miller saying grace and doing the comical entertainment ending the picnic.
The R-Weigh weight groups met Aug. 20 at the Faith Chapel church and lost 33 pounds for the week. Ruth Ann Hall was honored for reaching her goal status at the 5 p.m. meeting. The good losers for the week at both groups were Jo Anne Bogdan, Evelyn Peters, Mary Hefner, Jeni Alwood, Edie Sternburg and Lois Wood. Jo Carol Gray, Carol Held, Louise Marchbanks and Peggy Kurtz were the goalies for the week. Alwood received the monetary award for losing over her birthday and Catherine Baird and Hefner earned the monetary can-do award. Sylvia Eller and Roni Fauver, co-chairman and the Hit & Run baseball team hosted the picnic at the 1 p.m. meeting for the winning Quaker City Hitters baseball team. Karen Pauline presided and Beverly Armitage presented a nutritional program with a true and false quiz at the 5 p.m. meeting.
Payday will be Monday at both meetings whereas members will be paid a dollar a pound for their August losses. There will be no meeting on Labor day. Rally back day will be on Sept. 10 and all new or previous members are welcome and members will be assigned their classes for the school contest that begins on Sept. 17.
