Earl L. “Bud” Jones

CANFIELD- Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., for Earl L. "Bud" Jones, 93, of Greenford, who died late Wednesday evening at Salem Community Hospital.

Earl was born July 26, 1919, in Youngstown, a son of the late Edward I. and Ella Trigg Jones, and was a lifelong area resident.

Earl had been a roll turner for 60 years at McDonald Steel, formerly U.S. Steel, retiring in 1999 on his 80th birthday. He had also been a dairy farmer until the 1960s.

Earl loved the Lord and did many things to further His word. He went to Guatemala on a mission trip in 1976 to rebuild homes of earthquake victims and to build a church.

His wife, the former Jean B. "Betty" Sibbet, whom he married July 14, 1940, died July 11, 2008. He leaves two daughters, Susan (Chuck) Withers and Rebecca Yeagley, and a son, Ben E. Jones, all of Greenford; seven grandchildren, Michael Withers, David Withers, Russel Withers, Sharon Withers-Baldwin, Trent Yeagley, Corey Yeagley and Nathaniel Jones; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. He had also fostered 31 children throughout the years. Besides his parents and his wife, Earl was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Yeagley, and a brother, James E. Jones.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Lane Family Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel.
