Woman with local ties to compete in rodeo pageant

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Former East Liverpool resident and current Miss Rodeo Missouri Ashleigh Woolmaker will be competing in the Miss Rodeo America pageant Dec. 6-12 in Las Vegas, Nev. Held in conjunction with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, the pageant will be hosted by the MGM Grand Hotel. While in Vegas, she will compete in horsemanship, appearance, modeling and stage presence, photogenics, and personal interviews. She will also be scored on an extensive written test of rodeo and equine knowledge. Woolmaker began her reign as Miss Rodeo Missouri on Jan. 1. She has traveled extensively attending rodeos, bullriding events, fund raisers, parades, and pageants and recently returned from the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyo. Woolmaker is the daughter of former East Liverpool resident Karen Dudding Murray and East Liverpool residents Troy and Jill Woolmaker. Her grandparents include former East Liverpool residents Ron and Dorothy Dudding of Center, Mo., and Harry Woolmaker of East Liverpool. Her sponsors are East Liverpool residents Kathleen Dray and Shawn Muscari who traveled to Missouri for her Miss Rodeo Missouri coronation party.

A May 2012 graduate of William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., Woolmaker was a four year member of the International Delta Gamma fraternity, a member of the Western Club, and a member of the Campus Activities Board. With a degree in elementary education, she plans to pursue her teaching career upon completion of her reign as Miss Rodeo Missouri.
