McLaughlin told police she didn't see the boy on his bicycle until it was too late, as he had rode out into traffic from behind a truck that was stopped in traffic.

A dispatcher at the police department said the boy had a broken leg, among other unknown injuries. Police did not release the boy's name pending notification of family members.

The dispatcher estimated the boy to be 11 years old.

The police report indicated the boy was not wearing a helmet. He is believed to be a Lisbon resident.

McLaughlin was driving 20 miles per hour in the 35 mph zone when the accident occurred. The damaged 21-speed bicycle was left in the care of an East Lincoln Way resident for the time being.

The boy was taken by KLG Ambulance to a landing zone prepared by the Lisbon Fire Department just off Dickey Road.
