BELOIT - The following statement was released Sunday by Mike Helm, president of the West Branch Education Association, in regards to a contract impasse with the school board: "WBEA members have agreed to numerous concessions already. These concessions are in excess of $700,000 over the next two years. The Board of Education's so called "last, best, offer" we feel is financially unnecessary and punitive to the members. The WBEA is more than willing to return to the bargaining table and resolve our differences in a professional manner."

In a written statement released Saturday, Superintendent Scott Weingart said the WBEA, representing the teachers in the district, rejected the school board's "second and final" offer for a new two-year agreement last Tuesday. The board will present union its "last, best and final" offer on Monday, he said.
