LISBON - One brother was hospitalized with a stab wound and another brother charged with felonious assault following a fight at their home on Hillview Drive, West Township, late Friday.
Walter Whaley was found by sheriff's deputies lying on the floor of the kitchen with a stab wound. His brother, Travis Whaley, was in his bedroom. He reportedly refused to answer deputies when they asked his name.
Travis Whaley, 41, was charged with felonious assault and transported to the county jail.
Walter Whaley was transported by KLG to St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Municipal Court documents state he had a stab wound to both his back and his arm.
Chief Deputy Allen Haueter said Tuesday Walter Whaley's injuries were not believed life-threatening.
Deputies initially were called by Della Reed, Hillview Drive, Hanoverton, who reported three men fighting at the home at about 11:46 p.m. Friday. She relayed to the dispatcher that those involved had knives. Dispatchers learned about the stabbing shortly before deputies arrived and had contacted KLG.
Reed is the girlfriend of Walter Whaley. The mother of the brothers, Ellen Whaley, was also home at the time of the fight.
During the course of the investigation deputies determined the fight was only between the two brothers.
In county Municipal Court on Tuesday, a Sept. 10 preliminary hearing was set for Travis Whaley. Judge Mark Frost set bond at $50,000 cash or surety.
