CALCUTTA - The Beavers rolled over Big Red.
The Beaver Local volleyball team won all three matches Wednesday against visiting Steubenville. The Beavers won the varsity match, 25-7, 25-16, 25-22, they won the JV match, 25-13, 25-19 and they won the freshman match, 25-10, 25-22.
In the varsity match, Ali Buchheit tallied five aces, 11 points, five digs, 23 sets, 15 assists, eight spikes and seven kills, and Sierra Wright collected one ace, three points, three digs, 11 sets, five assists, seven spikes and three kills to lead the way for Beaver Local (4-1).
Also for the Beavers, Mackenzie Davis delivered three aces, 11 points, four digs, 10 sets and eight assists, Nevada Dobbs added six points, five digs, eight spikes and 11 kills and and Danna Talbott contributed two points, 10 digs, six spikes and eight kills.
Next, Miranda Turkovich chipped in with three digs, one assist, six spikes and three kills, Laini Roberts recorded nine digs, one assist and two spikes and Tannar Dolhun netted one dig, one spike and six kills.
Finally, Sierra Jones scored one point to go along with one ace and one dig and Lynsey Reckner ended up with one dig.
Bobbie Ann Theiss scored 17 points to lead the way for the Beavers (4-1) in the JV match.
Sam Kendall tallied seven points.
In the freshman match, Dominica Keller recorded 10 points to lead the way for Beaver Local (2-0).
Beaver Local's next match is tonight at home against local-rival East Liverpool.

TORONTO - The Indians made quick work of the Red Knights.
The Southern Local volleyball team earned a 25-9, 25-20, 25-16, victory Wednesday at Toronto.
For the Indians (4-3), Hannah Brothers recorded 71 sets, 28 assists and 11 digs, Abby Smalley tallied 14 digs, five kills and seven points and Emily Jenkins scored seven points to go along with seven kills.
Also, Natalie Utt collected 13 digs, three points and four aces.
The Indians won the JV match, 25-23, 25-16.
For Southern, Casey Howdershelt tallied nine kills, three digs and six points, Brittany Weber collected three kills and seven points and Mallory Keyes contributed eight points, five aces and three digs.
Southern's next match is today at home against Leetonia.
Edison sweeps tri-match
WEIRTON - The Wildcats swept the Red Riders and the Huskies.
The Edison volleyball team improved to 6-1 on the season by winning a tri-match over Weir and Harrison Central Wednesday at the Carl?Hamil Fieldhouse.
Edison defeated Weir, 25-20, 27-25, and Harrison Central, 25-11, 25-21.
Individually for the Wildcats against the Red Riders, Katie Davidson delivered four kills, six assists, four blocks, eight points and one ace, Katelyn Pollock collected four kills, three blocks, two digs, eight points and four aces and Cassady Jarvis recorded three kills, three assists, seven blocks and two points.
Also, Kylie Smith tallied four digs, four points and one ace, Hannah Johns scored three points to go along with three kills and one block and Caitlin Brenstuhl contributed one kill, six assists and four points.
Finally, Alexis Gill produced two kills and three blocks, and Maddie Williamson ended up with one dig.
For the Wildcats against the Huskies, Davidson collected four kills, 12 assists, seven points and two aces, Pollock produced three kills, six points, one ace and one dig and Brenstuhl tallied two kills, six assists, seven points and one ace.
Also for Edison, Smith contributed two kills, four points and two aces, Gill ended up with one kill, eight points and two aces and Johns had one kill and one dig.
Finally, Jarvis finished with seven kills and one dig.
The Wildcats have now won three-straight matches since falling to Beaver Local in the first match of a tri-Saturday at Edison.
The Wildcats will look to continue their winning ways Monday when Edison travels to Oak Glen.
Edison d. Indian Creek, 19-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 15-13
WINTERSVILLE - The Wildcats rallied past the Redskins.
The Edison volleyball team picked up a big win Tuesday as Edison fought back for a 19-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 15-13, victory Tuesday at Indian Creek.
"All I can say is that I'm just real proud of these girls," Edison (4-1) head coach Leah Snyder. "They've worked very hard and we've pushed them even harder.
"It's kind of a running joke that we expect blood, sweat and tears every game, and these girls have given it or the equivalent.
"It was a good win, but we have two games to focus on tomorrow."
For the Wildcats, Katelyn Pollock collected 12 kills, eight points, five blocks and two digs to lead the way. Katie Davidson delivered 11 assists, eight points, four kills and two digs, Caitlin Brenstuhl tallied 11 assists, nine points, two kills and two blocks and Cassady Jarvis recorded seven kills, six blocks and six points.
Also, Hannah Johns scored eight points to go along with six kills, three blocks and two aces Kylie Smith contributed eight digs, four points and four kills and Alexis Gill added three blocks and two kills.
Finally, Victoria Freeland finished with two digs.
Junior setter Jessica Furda paced the Redskins (3-1) with 22 assists, eight digs, six kills, two blocks and two aces. Whitney Martin tallied 14 digs, seven kills and four blocks, Ali Collaros collected seven digs and Mallorie Sullivan added nine digs.
Also, Brey Mays delivered nine digs, four blocks and three kills, Alexis Fithen finished with four kills and four blocks and Bre Berryman recorded 12 kills, six blocks and three digs.
Finally, Kiarra Kamarec contributed nine blocks, three aces and two kills.
Indians sweep Bulldogs
EAST PALESTINE - The Southern Local Middle School volleyball teams earned a sweep Tuesday at East Palestine.
The Indians won the 7th grade match, 25-13, 26-24.
For Southern, Lizzie Willis scored 10 points to lead the way, and Alivia Brothers and Anna Sevek each contributed six points.
Southern won the 8th grade match, 25-8, 25-12.
For the Indians, Wynona Boyd delivered 12 points to lead the way, and Katie Ketchum contributed 10 points. Southern plays in a tri-match Saturday at Columbiana.
