First United Methodist to hold chicken BBQ

LISBON - A chicken barbecue will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 15, during the Johnny Appleseed Festival, at the First United Methodist Church, 114 E. Washington St. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

CC Genealogical Society to meet in Shaffer library

SALEM - The Columbiana County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Salem Historical Society's new Dale Shaffer Library with entrance on Lundy Avenue. Beverly Grauer and Jan Bethel will present a program on Obituaries: Past, Present and Future.

Ballroom Boogie slated for Tuesday at Kuzman's

GIRARD -The "Mad Hot Monday Ballroom Boogie" is a fun, free night featuring Ballroom, Latin, and Swing and Hustle from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 11 at Kuzman's, 1025 S. State St., Girard. Church to host cruise down Ohio River Oct. 8

WELLSVILLE - The Save Immaculate Conception Church Committee announces an upcoming one-day cruise down the Ohio River on Oct. 8. A chartered bus will leave Wellsville and travel to Station Square to board the Majestic which will journey down the Ohio River to Steubenville for nine hours. A lunch buffet and a captain's buffet dinner will be served. Cost is $125. After arriving in Steubenville, the chartered bus will return to Wellsville. TOPS?777 rewards weekly weight loss

SALEM - Weekly and monthly winners were recognized when TOPS 777 met. Winners at the Aug. 22 meeting included Dorothy Ward, KOPS; and Joan Cole, Susan Wendell and Linda Straub, best losers. Each member received a wooden rose during the group's summer social. It was noted that free dues will be given for a Labor Day loss. Ward received a special award and Debbie Phillips read the contest report.

Winners at the Aug. 29 meeting were Frances Valentino, KOPS; Jean Rhodes and Linda Evanoff, best losers; Shirley Johns and Valentino, at goal or below.

Monthly awards went to Ward, KOPS; Brenda Adams and Pat Sheen, backsliders; Peggy Mix, best loser; and Straub and Mabel Pasco, runners-up best losers. The program was titled "How to lose on a cruise" followed by the inspiration, "My friend and I."

Columbiana Senior Citizens to meet at Upper Room

COLUMBIANA - Columbiana Senior Citizens will meet at 10 a.m. twice this month at the Upper Room. A pizza luncheon will be served at the Sept. 11 meeting. Members are asked to bring a sack lunch to the meeting on Sept. 25.

Daughters of the Americas to meet for lunch Thursday

SALEM - Catholic Daughters of the Americas will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club featuring a guest speaker from Sterling House.
