LISBON - Members of the county Educational Service Center board will be seeking a new member after accepting the resignation of Christina Phillips Monday.
In a letter dated Aug. 28, Phillips said she was submitting her resignation with a "heavy heart" and wished the other board members the best in the future. She did not give a reason for her decision, but said she was grateful to have had the opportunity to have served on the board.
The board has 30 days to fill the position. The new member must live in one of the local school districts and must be a registered voter. The position will serve until Jan. 1, 2014 and the board member can choose to run for re-election at the general election in November 2013. Phillips' term was set to expire in November 2013.
Superintendent Anna Marie Vaughn said the local school districts are Southern, Beaver, United, Crestview and Wellsville.
Those interested in applying are asked to send a letter of interest to Treasurer Cindy Lengyel by Sept. 24. The board will review the applicants and name a replacement at a special meeting, which will be announced.
The next regular meeting is 4:30 p.m., Sept. 17.
