WEST LIBERTY - Former Beaver Local tennis standout Emily Dawson has gotten off to a good start as a freshman at West Liberty University.
Dawson is a starter playing in the No. 3 singles position for the Hilltopper's women's tennis team.
Over the past weekend Dawson won two matches, defeating players from Alderson-Broaddus College on Saturday and Concord University on Sunday. Both matches were won by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Dawson's record on the year thus far is 4-0 with previous straight set wins over players from Seton Hill University and Grove City College.
The West Liberty team, coached by Heather Gallagher, also has a 4-0 team record.
Other starting players on the squad include: No. 1 Lauren Howard, (Lee-On-Solent, England); No. 2 Raissa Wischi, (Sao Paulo, Brazil); No. 4 Zineb Houssaini, (Meknes, Morocco); No. 5 Alex Barr, (Vienna, W.Va.); No. 6 Sarah Howells, (Weirton).
Senior Moleigh Poling, an Oak Glen graduate, is also listed on the roster.
The Hilltoppers will be back in action with a road match against 2011 NCAA Division?II Top 16 finisher Slippery Rock University tomorrow.
