Staff Reports , Salem News

LISBON - Columbiana County commissioners filled some board vacancies at their meeting Wednesday.

Commissioners appointed Robert "Mike" Dyer of East Liverpool to replace D. Kay Edwards on the county Mental Health and Recovery Services Board. Edwards, who is also from East Liverpool, is resigning as of the October meeting but her term expires June 30, 2013.

Dyer was chosen from five applications received for three board seats up for reappointment this year. MHRSB Executive Kathie Chaffee recommended Dyer in part to help achieve better gender balance on the board.

Commissioners also appointed Kimberly Ford to the Community Corrections Planning Board that oversees the operation of the local prison-alternative facilities.

Neither position is a paying position.

Finally, among the bills approved for payment by commissioners was $19,972 due the Ward Law Office in Lisbon for helping with negotiations for the lease of county property to Chesapeake Energy and performing the deed work.
