Beaver Local girls defeat Liberty, 3-2

CALCUTTA - The Beavers battled their way past the Leopards.

The Beaver Local girls' tennis team won one singles match and both doubles matches to defeat Liberty, 3-2, Wednesday at home.

For the Beavers (5-7), Jordan Reinke defeated Holly Burgdorf, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 3 singles.

In doubles, the Beaver Local team of Jesslyn Taylor and Natalyn Chamberlain defeated Taylor Kutsch and Taylor McCulley, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1, and Samantha Bishop and Ella Polen teamed up to defeat Crystal Carrodine and Logan Honkus, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2.

For Liberty, Vittoria Vaturi defeated Kristi Kline, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, and Meryl Schor defeated Kayla Laurich, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2.

Beaver Local's next match is today at United.

East Liverpool 5, United 0

HANOVERTON - The Potters recorded their first victory.

The East Liverpool girls' tennis team won all five matches en route to a 5-0 victory Wednesday at United.

In singles, East Liverpool's Emily Orlo defeated Chloe Bortmas, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1. At No. 2, Sutton Stacey defeated Ashley McLaughlin, 6-0, 6-0. Finally at No. 3, Alissa Geisse defeated Courtney Sanlo, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, the Potters' team of Courntey Fitch and Merideth Dawson teamed up to defeat Brittny Miller and Kaeleigh Louk, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 1, while at No. 2, Ashley Williamson and Alissa Gill teamed up to defeat Savannah Morris and Danae Menough, 6-4, 6-2.

In JV action, East Liverpool's Maranda Timmons lost 6-2 in singles, while hte doubles team of Lexi Beagle and Taylor Wise lost 6-4.
