Mill Creek MetroParks board to meet Tuesday evening

YOUNGSTOWN - A special meeting of the board of park commissioners begins at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Birch Hill Cabin in Mill Creek MetroParks. The two items on the agenda will be the retirement of the executive director and the appointment of the new executive director. An executive session to discuss personnel matters and land acquisition follows.

Leetonia 1955-57 lunch set

LEETONIA - The Leetonia High School classes of 1955-57 are invited to lunch at noon Sept. 19 at the Iron Rails Cafe.

LISBON - The regular meeting of the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities scheduled for Sept. 19 will not be held due to lack of business.

'Drive-thru' flu clinics offered by Salem Visiting Nurses

SALEM - Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association's "drive-thru" flu clinics will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 and 26 at 718 E. Third St. Cost is $20. SAVNA will bill Medicare Part B or Anthem Senior Advantage Products (YRA, YRE, YRI and YRS prefixes only). Participants must bring their insurance card. Arrangements for flu shots may be made for homebound people by calling 330-332-9986.

Pull for a Cure set at Mile Branch Grange fairgrounds

ALLIANCE - The Mile Branch Grange Fairgrounds on Knox School Road will be the site of the Pull for a Cure! on Sept. 21, rain or shine. The event kicks off with the Shriner's fish dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. The charity pulls start at 7 p.m. with four different classes of pulling action. There will be 50/50 tickets available for purchase as well as a charity auction held throughout the event.

The Drop Top Cadies featuring Ben Childers will play from 9 p.m. to midnight. All proceeds from the 50/50 drawing and charity auction go to the ACS and Shriner Charities. Additional donations may be given to any Shriner associate at the event.

Kids Day set Sept. 22 at

Leetonia Sportsman's Club

LEETONIA - The Leetonia Sportsman's Club will hold its 37th annual Kids Day on Sept. 22 at the club grounds along East High Street in Leetonia. Activities include shooting, archery, and fishing events for all children ages 6 to 15 years. Trophies will be awarded to contest winners and raffle prizes will be given away. A wiener roast will also be held. Everything is free of charge.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. and runs continuously throughout the day.

Salem Hospital auxiliary

jewelry fair planned Sept. 26

SALEM - Salem Community Hospital's Auxiliary is sponsoring a jewelry fair from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 in the hospital cafeteria's private dining room. A discount of 20 to 50 percent off quality products from All That Sparkles will include rings, pendants, earrings and beads, and gemstone jewelry. Proceeds benefit future SCH projects. Program on gas industry set

at Salem Kiwanis meeting

SALEM - A program about the gas industry and how it relates to Columbiana County will be presented at the Salem Kiwanis Club's lunch meeting at noon Sept. 20 at the Salem Community Center.
