GOSHEN TOWNSHIP- A Beloit woman has been arrested for felony theft of a vehicle after allegedly taking her boyfriend's vehicle and cash to apparently buy drugs.
According to Goshen police, Shannon L. Ballas, 27, 126 Oakwood Drive, Beloit, was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree felony theft of a vehicle and misdemeanor counts of theft, drug instruments and drug paraphernalia after a patrolling officer observed the vehicle, reported stolen at 4:30 p.m. the same day, returning home at 8:50 p.m.
Ballas had reportedly taken the vehicle and $100 in cash from the boyfriend without permission, leaving an apologetic note saying she was going to Walmart and to not call the police. The boyfriend stated he believed she had gone to Canton to buy heroin or cocaine.
After being restrained by the officer, Ballas reportedly admitted to taking the vehicle to a Middlebranch Avenue, Canton, residence without permission, as well as $40. She also admitted to having two syringes and a crack pipe in her purse which she voluntarily removed.
Ballas also had an active warrant out of the Stark County Sheriff's Office for breaking and entering, theft and resisting arrest, according to police.
