Salem Senior Citizens Club to meet

SALEM - The Salem Senior Citizens Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. today at the Memorial Building. Tickets will be sold for the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Dues must be paid before tickets may be purchased.

Columbiana County Dems plan meeting

SALEM -The Columbiana County Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center. All precinct committee people are urged to attend. For more information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.

Romanian Society to sponsor Banquet

SALEM - The Salem Romanian Society, a new sponsor, will serve the Fourth Thursday Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Building. The menu offers meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, peaches, fresh vegetables and fruit, and ice cream sundaes. Additional new sponsors are needed. Italian feast offered at Leetonia church

LEETONIA - The public is invited to an Italian Feast from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 167 Main St. Tickets are $10 and available after Mass on Sunday or by reservation by calling Suzanne Tobuck at 330-427-6188.

The menu offers appetizers, sausage-zucchini soup, salad, green beans almondine, ziti and meatballs, Tuscan garlic lemon chicken, roll and dessert. Italian music will be provided by John Gabriel. There also will be a 50/50 drawing, raffles, and Italian basket. All proceeds will benefit the local St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Leetonia.

Indoor rummage sale at Nazarene Church

SALEM - The "In Christ's Hands" workshop is sponsoring an indoor rummage sale Oct. 2-6 at the Nazarene Church, 1431 N. Ellsworth Ave. The public is invited from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Proceeds will benefit the workshop's clients.

Oktoberfest fund raiser at BB Rooners

SALEM- BB Rooners at 256 E. State St. will host an Oktoberfest fund raiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 6. Music will be provided by the Youngstown Saxon Band. The event offers food, prizes, beer and gift baskets. T-shirts will be available for purchase at $10 each. Proceeds will benefit the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation. Salem Hospital auxiliary to meet

SALEM - The Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 11 in the small dining room at the back of the hospital cafeteria. The speaker is Amanda Baright, DO, SCH general surgeon. The public is invited.

Beaver Township Memory Book offered

NORTH LIMA - The Beaver Township Bicentennial Memory Book is available for purchase from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the township administration office at 11999 South Ave. The memory book, which covers the township's history from the 2011 anniversary events back through several decades, includes 72 pages of photographs and information the township and its schools, churches and organizations. Cost is $10. The book will also be sold on Saturday during the annual Autumn Fest at the Beaver Township Nature Preserve on Route 165, East Lewiston. Admission and activities are free from 1 to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be sold by a 4-H club. The event, sponsored by the park board, features hay rides, pony rides and a petting zoo. There will also be several demonstrations and exhibits including the "Birds of Flight" live bird display and "Bugs Unlimited." The Columbiana-Mahoning County Beekeepers will be on hand and Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center will host a reptile display.
