HUBBARD - The Eagles soared past the Beavers.
The Hubbard girls' soccer team defeated Beaver Local, 6-1, Wednesday night.
Alex Eisenhart tallied the lone goal of the game for the Beavers (0-13).
The goal was unassisted.
Goalie Maranda Kiddey made four saves.
Beaver Local's next game is at 5 p.m. Saturday at home against East Liverpool
Morgantown 8, E. Liverpool 0
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Mohigans shut out the Potters.
The Morgantown girls' soccer team scored six goals in the first half en route to an 8-0 victory over East Liverpool Tuesday night at Red Devil stadium in the quarterfinals of the OVAC Cup Girls Soccer Tournament.
With the loss, the Potters are now 6-5 on the season.
Chelsea Possage made 20 saves in goal.
"Kelsey Diddle had a really good game, and so did Anna Guildoo," first-year East Liverpool head coach Katie Smith said. "Anna had some nice runs on the outside, but their defense just swarmed us when we got the ball.
"Sarah Morrell stepped up tonight and had some good plays and showed a lot of hustle on the field.
"Morgantown is an amazing team. They are the defending state champions in West Virginia. They scored six goals in the first half, but we held them to two in the second half."
"I'm proud of my girls. They played tough the whole 80 minutes. we only had one sub, and they didn't give up. They played until the very last whistle."
East Liverpool is scheduled to play again at 5 p.m. Saturday at Beaver Local as part of a girls and boys doubleheader. The boys game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
