September 30, 2012
Salem News

From left, Salem Police Lts. Dave Casto and Don Beeson sort dropped-off prescription drugs into bins, dividing them by pills, liquids and aerosols, during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration at the Salem Medical Center across from Salem Community Hospital on Saturday. Salem Community Hospital staff and volunteers helped man the event, with the police handling the medications and the Columbiana County Drug Task Force picking them up for proper disposal. The event in Salem averaged about 30 vehicles per hour, with people in more than 100 vehicles dropping off their unused or expired prescription drugs. (Salem News photo by Mary Ann Greier)
