Richard F. “Dick” Zeh

SALEM -Richard F. "Dick" Zeh, 81, of Salem, passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the Essex of Salem III following a lengthy battle with bone cancer.

He was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Enon Valley, Pa., a son of the late Fred and Margaret (Huston) Zeh.

Mr. Zeh retired from Operating Engineers Local #66 in Youngstown.

Dick attended Mt. Jackson High School in Pennsylvania in 1950 then served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #66 in Youngstown, Masonic Lodge #411 in Enon Valley, Pa., Scottish Rite Consistory-Valley of New Castle, Pa., Enon Valley Fire Department and United Commercial Travelers #590. He and his wife, Janet have spent the last 17 winters in Holiday, Fla.

His wife, Janet (Brautigam) Laughlin Zeh, whom he married July 3, 1982, survives him along with, two sons, Darrell (Shelly) Zeh of East Palestine and Dave (Debbie Lattanzio) Zeh of East Palestine; stepson, Scot (Linda) Laughlin of Salem; two daughters, Carol (Grady) Gaspar of Pittsburgh and Glenda Zeh of Boardman; stepdaughter, Debbie (Bob) Caldwell of Salem; three brothers, William (Helen) Zeh of Wampum, Pa., Delmar Zeh of Enon Valley and Lee (Sue) Zeh of Enon Valley; five grandchildren, Lindsay Beth Gaspar, Taylor Gaspar and Gabriel Gaspar all of Pittsburgh and Zack (Tonya) Zeh of Berlin Center, and Katie Zeh of East Palestine; and four step-grandchildren, Rich (Stacey) Caldwell, Shelly (Mike) Riesen, Abi Laughlin and Alexandria Laughlin all of Salem; and four great-grandchildren.

His first wife, Clara May (Dicks) Zeh, preceded him in death in November 1976. A stepson, Richard Laughlin Jr. also preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor David F. Sutton officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.
