Bowling league results announced
EAST LIVERPOOL - Spark's Auto Clinic (9.5-2.5) leads the standings of the Walnut Ladies Bowling League held at Walnut Lanes following league play on Sept. 27. Ridge Runners (7-5-4.5) is in second place, Alley Angels (7-5), Pin Ups (7-5) and Flaming Balls (7-5) are all tied for third and Strikers (3.5-8.5) is sixth. Bowling Buddies (2.5-9.5) rounds out the field. Barb Arthur bowled high game of 178 with a series of 513, Jane Rudibaugh bowled a high game of 190 with a series of 503 and Freida Kloetzly bowled a high game of 170 with a series of 468. On Sept. 20, Paula Martin bowled a high game of 184 with a series of 491, Barb Bibbee bowled a high game of 157 with a series of 440 and Deb Radeschi bowled a high game of 152 with a series of 436. On Sept. 13, Radeschi bowled a high game of 207 with a series of 494, Barb Stover bowled a high game of 160 with a series of 466 and Rudibaugh bowled a high game of 186 with a series of 464.
Beaver Local selling pre-sale tickets
CALCUTTA - Beaver Local is selling pre-sael football tickets for this week's game at 7 p.m. Friday night at Fighting Beaver Stadium against Struthers. Wellsville holding Spirit Parade today
WELLSVILLE There will be a Wellsville Tiger Spirit Parade at 7 p.m. today. The parade will star at the Carnegie Library and ending at Nicholson Stadium. All football players and cheerleaders are encouraged to attend. Public invited.
Registration set for Seacats swim team
STRATTON - Stratton Seacats winter swim team sign ups will be held from 6-7 p.m. Oct. 12 and 26 at the Stratton indoor pool. Bring swim suit for swim test, insurance and emergency contact information with you. Ages 5 up to age 18 are welcome to participate. Ups for Downs golf scramble to be held
CALCUTTA - A golf scramble to benefit the locally-based "The Ups for Downs" will take place Oct. 13 at Turkana Golf Course. Cost is $240 per team of four ($60 per person). It's an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Money due as soon as possible prior to the event. Hole sponsors also are needed at a cost of $50 per hole. Those wishing to enter a team and sponsor a hole, the cost is $280. Doughnuts provided morning of the event, hot dogs at the turn, and hot dogs and hamburgers following the event. There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt, and well as monetary prizes to the top three teams based on entries. Dash to Mat's Bash being held Oct. 13
WELLSVILLE - Preparations are being made for the fourth annual "Dash to Mat's Bash" by the Mathugh Johnston Memorial Corp. and Ohio Valley College of Technology. The 1.5 mile fun walk/run, set for Oct. 13, is a costume-based event through the village of Wellsville, taking in scenic Riverside Avenue, beginning at the Wellsville Municipal Building on Main Street. This year the race will be in memory of the late Vickie McCombs. The race will encompass Main, Ninth, and Fifth streets, and on race days those roads will be closed for approximately one hour. Race registrations can be found at "Dash for Mat's Bash" Facebook page, requested via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or local businesses. Cost $10 per person and includes race packet, T-shirt, and entry for door prizes. Add $1 per size above XL. A kid's dash costs $5 will consist of a t-shirt, Halloween costume contest, candy bag, and other prizes. The third Fire Department Brigade Relay also will take place. The relay brigade will include six member teams, each running 400 meters for a total of the same 1.5 miles as the other participants. Each brigade of six members in Turnout Gear will hand off a water nozzle to the next participant until completion. Packet and t-shirt pick-up and late registration will be the day of the race beginning at 10:30 a.m. Late registration accepted until 1:45 p.m. at the municipal building. The kid's dash will start at 2 p.m. promptly followed with the 1.5 mile run/walk.
Hunter's education course being offered
NEW CUMBERLAND - Hancock County Sportsman's Club, located on Wylie Ridge Road, will be holding a hunter's education class from 5:30-9 p.m. Oct. 9-11. All three nights must be attended. Persons born on or after Jan. 1, 1975 must first successfully complete a certified hunter education course before purchasing a hunting license. The course is offered free. Topics include: gun safety, wildlife management, ethics, survival/first aid, game identification, and how to safely hunt. Participants will hear volunteer instructors and conservation officers passing on their expertise and hunting experiences, will talk with their fellow hunters during class breaks and will get familiar with the total hunting experience.
