NORTH LIMA - An East Palestine man was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday night on state Route 7.

According to authorities, Joseph Flynn, 52, North Pleasant Drive, was southbound on Route 7 at about 9 p.m. when his car collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Leonilde Miranda, 80, of Youngstown. The crash occurred near the Mennonite Drive intersection in Beaver Township.

Township and Columbi-ana police shut down a portion of Route 7 at Pine Lake while emergency responders assessed the scene.

A helicopter was called in but not used, and Flynn and Miranda were instead taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngs-town, according to reports.

Flynn was pronounced dead at the hospital. Miranda was last listed in critical condition as of Thursday.

The highway patrol is investigating the crash.
