Ralph E. “Nick” Odey Jr.

SALEM - Ralph E. "Nick" Odey Jr., 81, of Salem, died at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at the Caprice Healthcare Center.

He was born Dec. 9, 1930 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Ralph E. Sr. and Irma B. (Hill) Odey.

Ralph worked as a die leader at Sekely Industries for 16 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Salem AMVETS Post 45. He was also a member of the Salem Slovak Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa L. Odey of Salem and Denise A. Higgins of Tucson, Ariz.; four sons, Rick L. (Theresa) Odey of Mebane, N.C., Jeffery S. Odey of Salem, Brett A. Odey of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Darin L. Odey of Delray Beach, Fla.; five sisters, Florence Gibbs of Akron, Carol (Harold) Madison of Salem, Gloria Kane of Canfield, Marjorie Catlos of Salem, and Lavine Sharpe of North Canton; a brother, Richard M. (Bethel) Odey of Alliance; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Janice C. Solomon, and a brother Robert C. Odey.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Douglas George officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
