Still plenty of work in Salem parks

October 25, 2012
Salem News

SALEM - The Salem Parks Commission met briefly Wednesday, with park maintenance the main topic of conversation as Parks Foreman Jim Grimm updated commissioners on work being done.

He said they're still mowing, continuing to work on leaf cleanup, removing graffiti, planting perennials donated to the department and working on grass seeding and mulching and picking up fallen branches. Restrooms at the band shell and Kelley Park were winterized.

City Parks Director Steve Faber said the fall softball league was wrapping up with a championship game on Sunday. The board hasn't replaced recreation director Dolores Rogucki who left for retirement at the end of May.

When asked about the position, Faber said they're still working some things out.
