SALEM - The Columbiana County Sheriff's Department released additional details Tuesday about the death of 10-year-old Brian Steiner.
According to deputies, the boy had been operating a skid loader with a bucket attachment at the time of the accident at 2:21 p.m. Friday. He was moving dirt in preparation for a cement pad to be poured for a mobile home.
The boy had taken a large load of dirt to a nearby dirt pile to dump the load, but did not return. He was found by a family member crushed between the bucket and cockpit of the skid loader.
The incident was investigated by both the sheriff's department and the county coroner's office.
