SALEM - A haystack breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Salem Eagles Club on North Ellsworth Avenue. Cost is $4.50. Carryouts are available for $5.

Salem Community Center

presenting Musical Celebration

SALEM - The Salem Community Center will celebrate 10 years of service and during the month of November will feature a Week of Musical Celebration.

A Southern Gospel Concert begins at 7 p.m. Monday featuring Salem's own Ted Thorne. The Fall Jazz Concert starts at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 with the Jack Halkides Quintet with Peggy Coyle and special guests. Nov. 15 offers the Four in One Gospel and Barbershop Quartet at 7 p.m. This musical event features the unique sound of singer-song writer Clair Besse performing all four vocal parts. Along with traditional gospel songs and hymns, Besse has added to his music selections the beautiful four-part harmony of barbershop music sung acapella.

On Nov. 16, Matt and Mike Newman perform at 5 p.m. The brothers bring two great musical events starting with a Jazz Ensemble followed by Tapestries of Ohio.

Resource Center taking names

for Toys for Tots program

LISBON - The Family and Community Resource Center will begin taking names for toys in collaboration with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots until Dec. 15.

Due to the high level of need in our community, families should not be signed-up at another location. Any child between the ages of 6 months and 14 years is eligible to receive a toy this holiday season. Parents are asked to phone the FCRC beginning Nov. 1 at 330-420-0044 to register their children. Parents must bring proof of residency, children's birth certificates and ID when picking up toys.

The Marine Corps Toys for Tots has been assisting Columbiana County families for many years, and will accept donations of toys or monetary gifts which are tax deductible at FCRC or through Deborah Oberlin, local coordinating officer in Columbiana County for three years. SALEM - The Salem Community Center is offering a buffet breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 1. Brunch will be served by The Catered Affair from 9 to 10 a.m. Children will dine with Santa and receive a photo taken with Old St. Nicholas.

Sebring Santa Stroll will begin

Dec. 1 ast Schreckengost Park

SEBRING - The 10th annual Sebring Santa Stroll begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1 at Schreckengost Park at the corner of 15th Street and Oregon Avenue. Carolers from Busy Corner Ministries will sing seasonal songs.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on a fire truck. After a welcome to the crowd, Santa will wave his magic wand and illuminate the downtown Christmas lights. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will then lead the strollers to village hall where they will greet children.

The event is sponsored by the Sebring Division of the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce. Each child will receive a Christmas activity book and a candy cane courtesy of the chamber.

Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for purchase and pickup on site from Picture Perfect Photo Studio. Cost is $7 for a 5x7 color photo.

Bycroft sponsoring Adopt-A-

Class project for Christmas

LISBON - The Robert Bycroft School is again sponsoring its Adopt-a-Class project for Christmas. This project involves donating $8 per student, eight students per class for a total of $64.

This money will be used by staff members to purchase a gift for each child for Santa to deliver at their Christmas party.

SALEM - The Saxon Club at 1980 Newgarden Road will host its annual fall fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Dinners include a choice of baked or fried cod, or breaded pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce or cole slaw, homemade cake, coffee, tea, iced tea or punch.

'Kids for Kids' benefit auction

is Saturday in Damascus

DAMASCUS - A "Kids For Kids" benefit auction begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road.

Auction services are being donated by Kiko Auctions. A lunch counter will also be available.

This event is sponsored by the children of the church. All of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to various children's missions all over the world. Since the first auction, the children have raised more than $15,000 for missions.

Over 200 brand new quality items will be available for the adults to bid on. Items include gift certificates, gift baskets, holiday items, etc.

All children in attendance will enjoy a separate kid's auction featuring a "junior" auctioneer. Parents can purchase "kids cash" in advance so that they will know just how much their child can spend.

The kid's auction will be held in a separate area with adult supervision so that parents can enjoy the "main" auction while their children enjoy theirs.

Church having 'drive by' dinners

LEETONIA - Leetonia First United Methodist Church at 50 Lisbon St. is having a "drive by" chicken dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 15, or until sold out.

The dinner includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.

Customers do not have to get out of their car, they just drive by at the front of the church, someone will take your order and money, and then bring your dinner or dinners out to your car. All proceeds go to repair and renovate the foyer area of the church.

National speaker, author will

visit Columbiana Public Library

COLUMBIANA - National speaker and author Patrick Hartory will visit the Columbiana Public Library to present a free brain health program from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29.

This fun and educational program is designed to provide attendees with useful tips on keeping their minds healthy and strong.

Hartory graduated from Kent State University with a degree in psychology and business administration.

Following college, he went to work developing educational programming for the PBS network, and producing and starring in the long-running series "Weird Science."

Today he continues to present over 150 live programs and workshops each year. The program will conclude with a book signing where copies of his new book, "Your Ageless Mind," will be available for purchase.

ALLIANCE - Lexington Elementary PTO's annual "Frosty's Christmas Boutique" will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at Marlington Middle School, 10325 Moulin Ave., Alliance.

Approximately 130 vendor tables will be stocked with handmade crafts, baked goods, indoor and outdoor Christmas decorations, apparel, primitives, candles, etc.
