PITTSBURGH- Robert "Bob" Earl Bruderly, 89, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Salem, Ohio, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Sunrise of McCandless in Pittsburgh.
He was born Feb. 13, 1923 in Salem, a son of the late Frank and Helen Snyder Bruderly.
Prior to retirement, he was employed for 30 years as an electrical engineer at Westinghouse of East Pittsburgh. Bob proudly served in the Navy during WWII on the submarine USS Bowfin for seven patrols as an electrician's mate.
Bob was a member of the LOOM #236 of Irwin. He was an avid golfer and former member of the Carradam Golf Club and Deland Country Club.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Nada Krepps, and his second wife, Helen Heinick.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Rita Hanna Popp Bruderly; seven children, David Bruderly of Florida, Judy Popp Bruderly of Florida, Shirley Popp Radzevick and her husband Larry of Pennsylvania, Susan Popp Hugus and her husband Bill of Florida, Jack Popp and his wife Gail of Massachusetts, Robin Bruderly Martz and her husband Don of New York, Lisa Bruderly and her husband Gregg Burns of Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ben Bruderly and his wife Marge of Salem; and a sister, Mary Helen Hoprich of Arizona.
At Bob's request, there will be no public viewing or services.
He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa and grampy. We will miss his smile and his colorful way with words. He cherished his patrols on the USS Bowfin, so if desired, memorial donations may be made in his memory to: USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, 11 Arizona Memorial Drive, Honolulu, HI 96818, USA.
