SUMMERFIELD, Fla. - Valerie D. Schmidt, 76, of Summerfield, Fla., formerly of Salem, died Oct. 30.
Born Sept. 2, 1936, in Windsor, Ontario, she was the daughter of Arthur W. and Kathleen (Belyea) McLeod.
Mrs. Schmidt was active throughout her life in the fashion industry managing several women's boutiques.
Survivors include her husband, William J. Schmidt of Summerfield; a stepdaughter, Sharon Lee (Robert) Taylor of Edisto Island, S.C.; two stepsons, W. Jeffrey (Kris) Schmidt of Alexandria, Va., and Gregory W. Schmidt of Bridgeport, Texas; two sons, David Simpson of Makwao, Hawaii, and Tracy Simpson (Ann) of Astoria, Ore.; a sister, Darlene Teft of Grimsby, Ontario; a brother, Dennis McLeod of Dunneville, Ontario; and four grandchildren.
Services and interment will be held at a later date in Beamsville, Ontario.
