The Vine Street house in East Liverpool where a father and his three sons died in March was demolished Wednesday under order of the city planning department. An investigation by police and fire officials showed that Ulrick Estimot, 37, killed his sons and himself by arson. Two of the boys’ mother, Angela Latshaw, is now owner of the house, and her father had said previously the insurance company was balking at paying the claim, which planning Director Bill Cowan confirmed Wednesday, saying since Estimot was co-owner, and died as a result of suicide, the insurance carrier would not pay for demolition. Regardless, Cowan said Latshaw was told the house had to come down. X-treme Demolition was doing the work at the owner’s expense, he said. (Photo by Jo Ann Bobby-Gilbert)
