HANOVERTON - Garvin Pitts, 93, of Carroll County, formerly of Hanoverton, died Tuesday at the Woodlawn Compassionate Care in Canton.
Born April 23, 1919, in Dock, Ky., he was the son of the late Oscar and Lula (Branham) Pitts.
Mr. Pitts retired from the Sterling Boat Company. He was a member of the Hanoverton Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel (Justice) Pitts of the home, whom he married Aug. 31, 1937; a daughter, Geneva Donaldson of Canton; three sons, Richard (Marjorie) Pitts of Salem, Larry (Janet) Pitts of Carrollton and Douglas (Mary) Pitts of Mechanicstown; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Graham Pitts of Hanoverton.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Jenetta Pitts, and two sons: Bill and Robert Pitts.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington with Pastor Dave Napier officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Maple Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington.
