Western Reserve Rangers present ‘spirit’ award

BERLIN CENTER - Olivia Haid was presented "the 4-H Spirit Award" by club secretary Jena Styka when the Western Reserve Rangers 4-H met for its annual Member Recognition Night. The November meeting was conducted by Levi Smith and Ian Hames. Smith read a thank-you note from Hope 4 Women International from Tempe, Ariz, thanking the local 4-H club for the 27 dresses the members made and donated to their organization. The dresses will be taken by missionaries to various world countries for young women and girls.

The 2013 "4-H Family Guide" was available and advisor Robin Reph reminded everyone that they could select their projects and get an early start on the 2013 4-H year.

Club officers Ian Hames, Levi Smith and Styka presented the members with their 4-H Certificates of Achievement, the Canfield Fair exhibit premiums and their project ribbons. They also congratulated all club advisors for their many years as a 4-H club volunteers. Styka was recognized for being part of the entertainment for the volunteer banquet. Robert and Tiffany Voland along with Olivia Haid served the refreshments.

Western Reserve Rangers will meet on Jan. 10, 2013, for their organizational meeting. Those interested in joining 4-H are welcome to attend this meeting. Eligibility for 4-H membership begins when a child is enrolled in the third grade and at least 8 years of age as of Jan. 1 of the current year and ends Dec. 31 of the year in which an individual attains the age of 19.
